bridesmaid dress shopping

erezFinding bridesmaid dresses can sometimes be harder than finding your own. With so many shapes to dress, complexions to match, and budgets to fit, it can end up being a no-win situation. It’s true that at some point you just have to decide which dress you want and go with it. Ideally, it would be a win-win-win: for you, your bridesmaid, and her wallet. So, here’s my 2 cents in how to get there.

J.Crew. Yes, they do make bridesmaids dresses and at full price can be more than you budgeted for… but not when they’re on sale, and the sale’s on sale! Yes, okay maybe I’m a little in love with J.Crew, or maybe I just know when the right time is to buy. You might have to be a little flexible with the style you want, or perhaps color (I know! if they aren’t set in stone) but you can find something that will make both of you happy.

They’re currently having their sale 30% off, and this is the time to go shopping. Yes, you have to act a bit faster to get the sizes that you need, but if you collect those before hand (and make sure they’re right because you can’t return final sale items), you can call them up and place the order on the phone to make sure they’re in stock and they will help you out. My pick for this sale: French Silk twill Vionette dress. Originally $295, it’s now on sale for $69.99 and with 30% off that brings you down to $48.99. Unthinkable for a bridesmaid dress! It’s just about gone in everything except Key Lime, which is a light crisp green that I think would be perfect for summer. I don’t know of any bridesmaid who wouldn’t love spending under $50 for her dress. Instead of getting your bridesmaids gifts, some brides like to buy their bridesmaids the dresses, and it wouldn’t be unreasonable if you bought a dress like this.

I know not everyone can be as flexible with their dresses + colors, but I hope this helped out those who are a bit undecided on what to get… and happy shopping!
